MRI Results!

Parker's MRI was normal! It was so nice to finally have a normal test result for Parker!!! He will continue to take the medicine to help his bladder. We hope this will help him to be able to be potty trained!!

Parker's MRI!

Today was Parker's MRI of his spine. Parker, Oliver and I left the house at 7 AM to get to the hospital by 8 AM. His MRI was scheduled for 9:30, but we had to be there earlier because Parker needed to be sedated for the MRI study! Everything was going well! Parker was watching Cars 2 and relaxing after they gave him the versed (medicine that makes it easier for him to be separated from me). Unfortunately, we ended up waiting an extra hour and a half before they took Parker back for his MRI. The versed started to lose its effect and he was trying to get up from the bed. I had to keep him still once he was given the versed! This was quite challenging. Thankfully, Oliver took a nap from 10 to 11 AM which made it much easier to help try and keep Parker still! They used general anesthesia for Parker for this study. The MRI was an hour and a half long study! It was about 1 PM when the nurse came to take me to Parker's recovery room. We left the hospital about 2:30 PM! It was a long day!

We didn't get the results of the MRI today. Dr. Hagarty said she would give me a call as soon as she gets the report from the doctor who reads the MRI. We hope we get good news and everything is perfect with Parker's spine!

Easter Dinner!

My parents took us to dinner tonight for Easter. My aunt joined us as well! The children had fun opening their presents from Mom Mom and Dziadzi! We even had movie night and watched one of our new movies after we got home from dinner!

Happy Easter!

This morning we found a letter from the Easter Bunny at the bottom of the stairs. Sophia read the letter to us! We found out that this year the Easter Bunny hid our baskets, but didn't hide any eggs! The children loved finding their baskets! I waited too long to get the eggs and the only ones left at the store had hard candy in them! We had a nice relaxing Easter day! Piper is still sick and Sophia was not herself this afternoon!

Easter Egg Fun!

Last night we had so much fun coloring Easter eggs! The children were so excited about Easter that they couldn't fall asleep!

A Trip to the Dentist!

Today we headed to the pediatric dentist in Devon! It is quite a long drive to go to the dentist, but it is so worth the trip. We love Dr. McKee! He was recommended by Erik and my dentist! The children love going to the dentist! I don't think it is getting their teeth brushed that they love so much, but all the goodies they bring home. Today the hit prize was the lizard that sticks to the wall! The new toothbrush was also a big hit! The dentist even gave Harper and Zoe a new toothbrush! Our next dentist appointment will be in October!

The hygenist commented on how clean the children's teeth were at this visit! It was so nice to hear that we are doing a great job keeping their teeth clean! We do have to be extra careful when we brush Parker's one tooth that has come in sideways because of his cleft lip and palate. Parker is the one who dislikes getting his teeth brushed the most. Sophia is getting her six year molars and Piper is getting her two year molars. Piper had a tiny hole in her front tooth filled in because the dentist didn't want it to get a cavity. He didn't fill it in last time because it was her first trip to the dentist. It only took a few minutes to cover the very tiny hole.

Oliver didn't "see" the dentist, but he did get a toothbrush to chew on since he is teething. His two bottom teeth finally broke through his gums yesterday! I sure hope this will help him to sleep longer at night! I could really use a good night of sleep!!!! Erik tries to comfort him at night, but he just wants me!

VCUG Results!

A voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is an x-ray examination of a child's bladder and lower urinary tract that uses a special form of x-ray called fluoroscopy and a contrast material. Fluoroscopy makes it possible to see internal organs in motion. When the bladder is filled with and then emptied of a water-soluble contrast material, the radiologist is able to view and assess the anatomy and function of the bladder and lower urinary tract.

Piper had her VCUG test last Thursday to see if she had reflux in either of her kidneys. Piper had this test done because her ultrasound showed that one of her kidneys is swollen! Her results were normal!

Today Parker had his VCUG test done! Unfortunately, Parker's test did not show normal results. Parker' bladder only held 49 cc of urine when it should be holding 180 cc of urine. His urethral sphincter which controls the exit of urine from the body actually does the opposite of what it should be doing. So, what does this all mean? We don't really know yet. Parker is going to have an MRI of his spine next Thursday to see if there is any neurological reason for his VCUG test results! It just breaks my heart that our little man can't catch a break!
